To respect the Turkish millenary art, the artist Hervé Vital found inspiration in the iconographical themes of the churches in Cappadoce in order to design the choir’s stained-glass windows. He created the two pieces on each side of the choir. In front of the aisles he chose to represent a Byzantine Christ, in accordance with the canons of orthodox tradition, and an oriental Virgin Mother to please Muslim women’s devotion. He was also in charge of the whole project of rehabilitating the inside of the church and designed the liturgical furniture.
